Bull Market

Texas Longhorns in Waco TX - Waco is hardly the most famous place around, but, boy, does it reflect the face, the popular image of Texas. Situated between Austin and Dallas, Waco was located on the important Chisholm Trail, the north-south route used to transport cattle from ranches in Texas to railheads in Kansas.

The Waco Suspension Bridge is the centerpiece of Waco's downtown. The old bridge features the 'Branding the Brazos Cattle Drive Sculpture' - bronze sculptures commemorating the crossing where cowpunchers paid a toll of five cents per head of longhorn cattle to cross the Brazos River. The statues are a part of the Waco Chisholm Trail Heritage sculpture project, a work in progress, as more sculptures are coming, paying homage to Wacos role along the historic cattle-drive trail, where many herds of Texas Longhorns from deep south Texas made their Brazos River crossing over this bridge.

Waco and the Heart of Texas have deep ties to Texas history. Little Waco, 22nd in population with only 125,000 souls within its city limits, is the perfect destination to get the feel of this legendary place called Texas.

Chevron Corporation Houston TX

Houston, Texas - 1400 Smith Street - formerly: Enron Center North - formerly: Enron Building

The impressive skyscraper here is the former Enron building in Houston,TX, now occupied by Chevron. It is a beautiful piece of architecture that marks houston's skyline as one of the best.

The textbook glass-and-steel American skyscraper slab takes a simple, yet elegant twist with this blue glass and white aluminum tower. At its heart it is another boring block, but with its leading and trailing edges curved, it is different from other less interesting buildings that have come before it. The 50-story structure is one of the icons of the Houston skyline, and in the blazing Texas sun it reflects light in all directions, only serving to draw more attention to itself. The building stands out not only for its appearance, but its stance. Unlike the surrounding structures, the Chevron building deviates from the downtown grid to greet people head-on and show the world its glittering expanse.

This building became the symbol of all that was right and all that was wrong with Enron. It was in the middle of building this gleaming tower when the company collapsed into bankruptcy, lawsuits, and federal investigations. In late 2001 Enron laid off 4,000 workers as the company's finances collapsed, and two years after Enron's bankruptcy, the unique skyscraper was auctioned off.
