Haunted St Louis Cemetery No 3 New Orleans

Formerly known as Bayou Cemetery, (where it is believed that those with leprosy were buried), New Orleans' St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 was created in 1848 on the high stretch of land known as the Esplanade Ridge.

Rich with history and lore, NOLA's above-ground cemeteries have been inspiration for storytellers and authors alike. They have gained a reputation for being haunted by ghosts for many reasons, including grave robbery, unmarked or forgotten burials, natural disasters that disturb resting places, or sometimes even because the deceased was not properly buried at all. Add all of that to the fact that graveyards are often dark, somber places and you've got the perfect setting for a ghost or two.

Walking through the Big Easy's St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 at night with only a flashlight can be a stirring experience for amateur ghost hunters. Voices have been heard throughout the cemetery and full body apparitions appear in camera shots. Come explore this haunted cemetery ... and don't forget to hold your breath as you drive by, or you might breathe in the spirit of someone who has recently died!
